Photo damage is caused by exposure to UVA and UVB rays from the sun. This damage is seen as brown spots and broken capillaries and can appear as early as our late twenties, early thirties. The most common areas of damage are our face, neck, decollete, arms and hands.
AFT is the next generation of intense pulse light. Skin imperfections such as erythema of rosacea, superficial telangiectasia, dyschromia, age spots and other discolored signs of photoaging can be gently heated and eliminated, replaced by newer, younger looking skin. Patients will expereince a mild pinching or stinging feeling during the treatment. Mild redness and swelling can occur for a few hours following the treatment. The brown spots will become darker and flake off in approximately 5 days while the tiny red veins will be destroyed leaving a diffuse redness which will fade over 1-3 weeks. Skin tone will even out leaving it healthier and younger looking.
One to three treatments are usually sufficient to see results.
Additional treatments may be required for excessive sun damaged skin.
Remember to use a broad-spectrum sunscreen when driving and being outdoors all year long to minimize new sun damage and the appearance of new spots and diffuse redness.
Rosacea is chronic condition that can not be cured by any laser treatment but the AFT system can greatly reduce the redness.
